Central heating leak detection

Find concealed heating-pipe leaks when pressure keeps falling.

Start with what you have noticed

Repeatedly topping up a heating system may keep it running for a while, but it does not explain where the pressure is going. Accessible radiator fittings, boiler components and hidden pipes can all need consideration. Pressure loss alone does not prove a concealed leak.

Narrow the problem to a circuit

We ask when the pressure falls and what checks have already been completed. Suitable isolation and pressure testing can help establish which pipework deserves further investigation. Thermal patterns, moisture readings or tracer testing may then provide useful evidence. Once the affected plumbing is reached and repaired, appropriate follow-up testing is completed.

Signs that can prompt an investigation

  • Boiler pressure repeatedly dropping
  • A leak that appears when heating runs
  • Damp along a suspected heating route
  • Pressure loss with no visible radiator leak

Planning the visit

Tell us about any previous boiler assessment and whether there are separate zones or underfloor heating. No home testing is required; the engineer will advise on the conditions useful for the visit.

What to be aware of

Boiler component faults and gas appliance work may need a suitably qualified heating engineer. Our concealed plumbing investigation does not replace boiler servicing.

A method that may help

Thermal imaging cameras

Surface temperature patterns help guide an investigation into heating routes and possible moisture. The engineer selects the appropriate combination for the property.

Questions about this service

How do you investigate central heating leak detection?

We ask when the pressure falls and what checks have already been completed. Suitable isolation and pressure testing can help establish which pipework deserves further investigation. Thermal patterns, moisture readings or tracer testing may then provide useful evidence. Once the affected plumbing is reached and repaired, appropriate follow-up testing is completed.

What should I prepare?

Tell us about any previous boiler assessment and whether there are separate zones or underfloor heating. No home testing is required; the engineer will advise on the conditions useful for the visit.

What does the £1,350 price include?

For an agreed residential job, £1,350 covers investigation, specialist detection, tracing, necessary access or excavation, the plumbing repair, parts, materials, post-repair testing and a Trace & Access report. The plumbing repair has a 12-month workmanship warranty. The total includes any applicable tax. Decorative and remedial reinstatement is excluded.

Do I need to identify the leak before enquiring?

No. Describe the actual symptoms, the full postcode and any earlier findings. The investigation establishes which system and methods are relevant; you do not need to open floors or choose detection equipment.

Where can I arrange this service?

Explore the listed towns and districts across Berkshire, Surrey, London and surrounding counties. The full address, property use and practical access are checked before an appointment is agreed.
